What it is
White label refers to a product or service created by one company but sold and branded by another as their own. In marketing, a white label agency produces work — ads, websites, SEO, content — that another agency (or business) delivers to their clients under their own name. The end client never knows who actually did the work.
Why it matters
White labeling lets agencies scale without hiring, and lets businesses offer services they don't have the internal capacity to deliver. It's a legitimate and common business model — as long as the quality holds up and the arrangement is transparent between the parties involved.
The mistake most people make
Choosing white label partners based on price alone. The appeal of cheap outsourced work is obvious until the quality is bad enough to cost you a client. Vet white label partners as carefully as you'd vet a full-time hire. Your name is on the work. The vendor's reputation problem becomes your reputation problem overnight.
