Domain Name

What it is

Your domain name is your website address — the thing people type into a browser to find you. It's made up of a name you choose (firebrandagency) and a top-level extension (.com, .co, .io, etc.). You register it through a domain registrar and renew it annually.

Why it matters

Your domain is your address on the internet. A clean, memorable domain signals professionalism. A domain with hyphens, numbers, or a weird extension raises questions. And losing your domain renewal is catastrophic — someone else can register it and hold it ransom.

The mistake most people make

Registering the domain through their web designer or hosting company instead of owning it directly. Always register your domain in your own name and with your own account. If a vendor registers it, you may not own it — and that's a serious problem if you part ways.
