Marketing Funnel

What it is

A marketing funnel is a model for the stages a person moves through on the way from first hearing about you to becoming a customer — typically: awareness, consideration, and decision. It's called a funnel because many people enter at the top but fewer make it to the bottom. Understanding the funnel helps you create the right content and messaging for each stage instead of using one message for everyone.

Why it matters

Without thinking in funnel stages, you end up selling to people who aren't ready or educating people who are ready to buy. The funnel keeps your marketing aligned with where people actually are in their decision-making process.

The mistake most people make

Only marketing to the bottom of the funnel — constantly pushing offers and deals to people who don't know you yet. That's like proposing on a first date. You need content and touchpoints at every stage to move people through naturally.
