Quality Score

What it is

Quality Score is Google's rating (1–10) of how relevant your ad, keywords, and landing page are to someone's search. It's calculated based on expected click-through rate, ad relevance, and landing page experience. A higher score means Google shows your ad more and charges you less per click.

Why it matters

Two advertisers bidding the same amount on the same keyword won't pay the same price. The one with the higher Quality Score wins better placement at a lower cost. It's Google's way of rewarding advertisers who actually match what searchers want.

The mistake most people make

Ignoring Quality Score and trying to outbid competitors. You can out-quality them instead. A well-written ad pointing to a highly relevant landing page will beat a higher bid with a weak setup nearly every time.
