Click Fraud

What it is

Click fraud happens when someone — a competitor, a bot, or a click farm — clicks your ads repeatedly with no intention of becoming a customer, draining your ad budget without any return. It's a real problem, especially in competitive industries.

Why it matters

Every fraudulent click costs you money and inflates your data. If 20% of your clicks are fake, your cost-per-conversion looks worse than it actually is, your analytics are distorted, and you're making strategic decisions based on garbage numbers.

The mistake most people make

Assuming it isn't happening to them. Click fraud is estimated to cost advertisers billions of dollars annually. If you're in a competitive industry and running Google Ads, monitor your click patterns. Sudden spikes in clicks from single IP addresses or unusual bounce rates are red flags worth investigating.
