Google Business Profile

What it is

Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) is the free listing Google gives every local business — the information panel that shows up in Google Search and Google Maps when someone searches for you or businesses like yours. It includes your name, address, phone number, hours, photos, reviews, and more. It's often the first impression your business makes online.

Why it matters

For local businesses, this profile is prime real estate. It puts you directly in the map pack — those three highlighted results that appear at the top of local searches. Businesses in the map pack get dramatically more calls and website visits than anyone ranked below them.

The mistake most people make

Claiming the profile and never touching it again. Google rewards active profiles. Regular posts, updated photos, prompt review responses, and accurate information all factor into how often — and how prominently — your profile appears. A neglected GBP is a missed opportunity, every single day.
