Brand Refresh vs. Rebrand

What it is

A brand refresh is a tune-up — updating your look, tightening your messaging, modernizing your visual system while keeping the core identity intact. A rebrand is a tear-down — new name, new positioning, new identity, new everything.

Why it matters

Choosing the wrong one wastes money. A refresh when you need a rebrand is lipstick on a pig. A rebrand when you just need a refresh throws away years of equity.

The mistake most people make

Calling a rebrand a "refresh" because it sounds less scary. If the problem is your positioning, your audience, or your entire business model — that's a rebrand. Be honest about what you need.
