What it is

A mockup is a high-fidelity visual of what a finished web page will look like — real colors, real fonts, real images, real copy — but it's static. Nobody clicks it. It's a picture of the future product, not the product itself.

Why it matters

Mockups are where you make aesthetic decisions before any code is written. You can see how your brand colors work on a full page, whether your fonts are readable at scale, and whether the layout feels right — without spending a dime on development.

The mistake most people make

Treating a mockup like a finished product. A mockup is a design deliverable, not a website. Some clients see a polished mockup and think they're almost done. In reality, the build hasn't started yet.
