What it is
Page Authority (PA) is a score that predicts how well a specific page — not your entire domain — will rank in search results. Like Domain Authority, it's a Moz metric based primarily on link data. A page with strong, relevant backlinks pointing directly to it will have higher Page Authority than a page with no external links, even if both live on the same domain.
Why it matters
Not all pages on your site carry equal weight. Your homepage might have high authority from years of links, while a new service page has almost none. Understanding Page Authority helps you decide where to build links, which pages to promote, and how to structure internal linking to pass authority to the pages that need it most.
The mistake most people make
Ignoring page-level authority and only thinking about the domain as a whole. If your most important conversion page has weak PA, it'll struggle to rank for competitive keywords — even if your domain overall is strong. Authority needs to flow to the right places.
