What it is

Social proof is the phenomenon where people look to others' behavior and opinions to guide their own decisions. In marketing terms, it's your reviews, testimonials, client logos, case studies, user-generated content, follower counts, and any signal that says "other people trust this business."

Why it matters

People are wired to follow the crowd. When a potential client lands on your website or social profile and sees real people vouching for you, their resistance drops. Social proof is one of the most powerful conversion tools you have — and most of it costs nothing to collect.

The mistake most people make

Not asking for it. Reviews, testimonials, and referrals don't appear by magic. Most happy clients never say anything publicly unless you make it easy for them to do so. Build a system for collecting social proof consistently, not just when you remember to ask.
