Engagement Rate

What it is

Engagement rate measures how actively your audience interacts with your content — likes, comments, shares, saves, and clicks — relative to how many people saw it. A post seen by 10,000 people with 500 interactions has a 5% engagement rate.

Why it matters

Engagement rate tells you whether your content actually resonates. A large following with low engagement is a red flag — those people aren't listening. A smaller following with high engagement means you have a real, attentive audience that trusts you and pays attention when you post.

The mistake most people make

Chasing follower count instead of engagement. 500 engaged followers who trust you will generate more business than 50,000 passive ones who scrolled past and double-tapped out of habit. Build an audience that responds, not just an audience that exists.
